India''s first world-class Maritime Park at Dahej
Dahej (Gujarat), The Gujarat Government today announced that it would set up India''s first world-class Maritime Park at Dahej, which is about 100 kms away from Vadodara.
"Gujarat has 1,600 km long coastline and there is a good potential for the development of ship building, breaking, deep sea vessels and other activities connected with shipping industry.
"So it has been decided to give priority to develop a Maritime Park here (at Dahej)," Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said.
He was speaking after inaugurating a new factory of Roxul Rockwool Insulation.
Denmark-based Rockwool is the world''s largest producer of stone wool for insulations in building and construction as well as industry. It has opened a greenfield factory for the production of stone wool insulation products.
The factory, which has a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per annum, will produce a wide range of high quality stone wool insulation products for the insulation of industrial plants and buildings.
The Dahej Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is the only SEZ from India to figure in a list of world''s best 25 SEZs, Modi added.
"The Dahej SEZ has drawn attention of world famous corporate houses and multinational companies (MNCs)," he said.
He further said, "The Dahej zone is becoming a major attraction for investments as it houses Asia''s first chemical port.
"PCPIR (petroleum, chemicals, petro-chemicals investment region) being set up at Dahej, has attracted large chemicals and petrochemical players, including Petronet LNG and ONGC to set up their facilities."
