Lord Shri Bahubali travels from Bangalore to Gujarat
By Representative, Ahmedabad:
The magnanimous Bahubali Idol of 41 feet height has departed from Bidadi village near Bangalore today on its journey to Gujarat. The idol is going to be installed at Songadh village of Sihor Taluka, Bhavnagar District, Gujarat on a hill.
The search for the right stone and sculptor began two years ago, and after exhaustive search, it was decided that the stone and the sculptor have to be sourced out of Karnataka alone, as the similar stone and style of sculpture were unavailable elsewhere.
The Bahubali idol is being sculpted by the famous sculptor Shri Ashok Gudigar, who is a goldmedallist and national award winner.
The Bahubali is of 41 feet height, 14 feet wide and of 6.5 feet depth, sculpted out of a single block of 400 tonne granite from a place called Koira near Devanahalli, Bangalore. The idol will be transported on a specially made heavy vehicle with 140 wheels. The duration of the journey of the idol to Gujarat will take approximately 45 days from today. About 90 percent of work is completed, and the remaining 10 percent will be completed at Songadh, before the actual installation.
The place where the Bahubali idol is being placed is called Songadh, where the spiritual Digambar Jain saint Pujya Kanji Swamiji had preached the principles of Jainism over a period of 45 years. As a result the village Songadh assumed greater spiritual importance. The Songadh is also called Swarnapuri and a major spiritual pilgrimage place for the Digambar Jain Community. The installation of this beautiful Bahubali idol will make songadh shine as a Tirthdam in the world's map.
The Trustees of Shri Kund Kund Kahan Digambar Jain Swadhyay Mandir Trust, who are staunch followers of principles of Digambar Jain religion and great disciples of Pujya Gurudev Shri Kanjiswamy, are in the process of making and developing of "Jambudwip", a 9 acre of land at Songadh, Gujarat. (3-1)
