Passport is now one button press away from Defence personnelsnited Stock Exchange receives RBI authorization

Ahmedabad, Maj Gen SK Jha, SM, VSM GOC Golden Katar Division has inaugurated the Online Processing of Passport Applications service and Speednet (Track and Trace) Service in Golden Katar Field Post Office (FPO) by unveiling the curtain and pressing the save button to send the information related to an application to Regional Passport Office Ahmedabad through internet. All Senior Officers of the Golden Katar Division were present the inaugural function.

Initially the Golden Katar FPO was providing Speed Post Passport Service, which involves sale of Passport Applications only. The introduction of this new Service, the FPO will itself process the Passport applications online to Regional Passport Offices concerned and it will take the minimum time to get the Passport ready. As it is not possible for the Defence personnel to spare their time, this service will prove to be a boon to them as now with the start of this new service they do not have to approach Regional Passport Office physically.

Under this service Defence personnel will have to fill up the prescribed form available at FPO and the operator will put the details in the virtual form available at the website of Regional Passport Office. The operator at the FPO will cross check all relevant documents with the originals held with him. After getting confirmation from the applicant that the information filled in is in order operator will save the virtual form with the data centre of RPO. The original application submitted by the applicant will be returned back at the same time and he will be given one key number by which he can know the status of his application through Internet. In this service, Passport will be issued to the applicant within one and half months.

Major Vinod Kumar, Officer Commanding Golden Katar Division Postal Unit informed that Speednet (Track & Trace) Service is also started formally in the Golden Katar FPO. By the introduction of this service, he said, now booking and delivery of Speed Post articles is being done through Speednet System and any one can enquire the status of article booked by him/her through Internet at any time and from any part of the Globe just by putting barcode number of the article booked at any Civil/Defence Post Office.

On this occasion Maj Gen SK Jha, SM, VSM GOC Golden Katar Division appreciated the introduction of the service and said now troops have virtual RPO in their next door. He expressed gratitude by saying that it will now be easier for a soldier to get his Passport issued in the minimum time, and Speednet (Track and Trace) Service will keep the customers updated about the status of Speed Post articles booked without going to FPO.
