Himalaya To Set Up Food Processing Unit In Gujarat
By ENN, Ahmedabad: Himalaya International to set up a major food processing unit in Gujarat. The project costs 1.3 billion to grow and process mushrooms, cheese and yogurts and baked breaded appetizers. It is expected to start commercial production by September 2009.
Company has appointed vice president and few support executives to commence project implementation and more people are supposed to be hired on the project.
It also benefits farmers indirectly by growing onions, jalapenos and potatoes for the company's under contract farming and will also enter contract dairy farming for its cheese and yogurts facility.
Himalaya proposes to tap solar energy by utilizing area of half a million square foot roofs of its mushroom growing houses and process facility, thereby reducing carbon footprint.
The products shall be exported to gulf countries, the UK, and the US from Mundra seaport in Gujarat and shall also be marketed in metro cities of Western India. |
