Battery operated car for handicaps and senior citizens launched at Mumbai Central Station

By ENN, Ahmedabad: A battery operated car for the convenience of physically challenged and senior citizens was launched at Mumbai Central station by the children from ADAPT (Able Disable All People Together) Society, Colaba in the presence of General Manager, Western Railway, Shri R. N. Verma on 15th December, 2009. Master Manav of ADAPT Society cut the ribbon and handed over the keys of the car to its driver. The children were welcomed by the Western Railway staff with flowers and chocolates. They took a ride in the new battery operated car which has been launched for disabled, sick and senior citizens. The launching of this car is in line with the firm commitment of Railways towards continuous upgradation of passenger amenities especially for senior citizens and physically challenged.

The use of this car would be absolutely free of charge for the passengers and can be booked by them by calling on HELP LINE NO. 09987212000. The service would be available 24hrs. The mobile car has been provided by M/s Shristi Communications of Chennai and it can accommodate 3 persons per trip. It is noiseless and eco-friendly. Railways would provide free electricity for charging the car. The firm also has been given right of advertisement on the panels of the vehicle. The mobile car is fully equipped with first aid box and other accessories.
